Clinical Services and Therapeutic Orientation

Clinical Services

Psychotherapy

Dr. Lauren Altchiler provides individual psychotherapy for adults, teens, and children.  Areas of specialty include stress management, the treatment of anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, relationship issues, parenting concerns, and helping patients find inner happiness and reach their true potentials.

Therapeutic Orientation

Dr. Lauren Altchiler is a Cognitive-Behavioral psychologist.  The unique belief system (thoughts) we each have determines everything about how we interpret the world.  These interpretations then determine how we feel and the behavior that follows. Living more consciously, that is with greater awareness of our thoughts and the actions which follow, allows us to better understand how we ended up where we are in our current lives.  This awareness reconnects us to our own inner self, helps to empower us to make new choices that create greater happiness and well-being, and enables us to move in the direction of our true purpose and dreams.

Our thoughts and beliefs are incredibly powerful. They actually create our lives!  With greater understanding of this, people can release themselves from old negative patterns of thinking and behaving and choose to think more positively and healthfully.  A change toward more positive thinking naturally leads to enhanced self-esteem, better relationships, greater productivity and achievement in all areas of life, and a sense of joy and well-being.

Stress Management Workshops

Dr. Altchiler runs Stress Management workshops which she developed over her 15 years in private practice. Relieving stress, creating wellness, and empowering patients to be all they can be are the goals of these workshops.

Join us and start creating the life you were meant to live!

The Basic Workshop:

The basic workshop is an 8 week program. Groups of 5 to 8 members meet for 90 minutes each session. Workshop participants master a variety of stress management tools that can be pulled out of their “toolbox” and applied immediately, whenever confronted with a stressful situation.  This is all accomplished in an upbeat, non-threatening small group experience. Skills covered in this workshop include:

-Understanding Stress: Our power to help ourselves

-Self-talk: Are you your own best friend or your own worst enemy?

-Assertion Training

-Overcoming Fear

-Meditation Techniques

-Breathing/Relaxation Techniques

-Time Management

The workshop sessions are primarily lecture based with many opportunities for member discussion and experiential exercises.  Brief homework assignments based on the current topic are assigned weekly and are discussed at the start of the following session.  Brief homework assignments are a crucial tool enabling members to integrate new skills learned into their lives outside of the group.

This group experience has been a wonderful opportunity for all those who have chosen to participate over the years. Watching members use their newly developed skills to transform their lives is truly one of the most rewarding and satisfying parts of Dr. Altchiler’s work. The group experience is an incredibly powerful facilitator of positive change. The bonds made and the mutual support shared between participants has been remarkable. Members often comment on how much they enjoy being with like-minded people who are trying to grow in similar ways.  It is the perfect antidote to the energy often experienced within society today.

The power to improve the quality of your life lies within you!

Follow-Up Workshops: Following completion of the basic workshop, monthly follow-up workshops are available for those who would like to continue their group experience.  Follow-ups cover additional topics and provide on-going support as participants integrate the skills learned into a lasting part of their lifestyles.  Follow-up topics are chosen based on the needs and interests of current group members.

Some of the topics explored during follow-up workshops include:

-The Law of Attraction

-Dealing with Difficult People

-The power of visualization in creating the life we want

-Additional meditation and breathing techniques

-The Law of Allowing

-The Law of Deliberate Creation

-Exploring the natural vs. the acquired self

-The power of living in the present moment

-Learning not to personalize

-Having an “Attitude of Gratitude”

-Embracing Change

-Topics based on the following books: “The Secret,” “The Four Agreements,” “The Present,” “Who Moved My Cheese,” “Mindfulness and the Art of Choice,” and “Eat, Pray, Love”.

Take that first important step today and change your life!
